Able To Make An Impact

One of our newest lines we’re carrying is Able, a denim, jewelry, leather goods, and other clothing basics company based out of Nashville, TN. The denim jackets and stunning jewelry are reason enough to obsess over this brand, but their business model and philosophy are what we love and respect most about this stylish company.

Barrett Ward, Founder and CEO of Able, spent some time living in Ethiopia where he witnessed woman after woman fall into the grips of poverty, forcing them into dangerous and heartbreaking jobs to merely get by. This generational poverty, specifically among women, sparked the idea for what Able has become today. Employing women in Ethiopia, Mexico, Peru, and the United States, they partner with manufacturers to ensure that their working conditions are safe and their wages meet the standard of living. Research has shown that when women are working jobs with fair wages, it actually helps her entire community thrive. They are consequently better able to provide the basic needs for their families, along with having better access to education which helps break these generational poverty cycles. The founders of Able saw a deficit and have worked to help fill this gap one purchase at a time of their beautifully made products.

Not only do they desire to work toward ending generational poverty, but they believe so whole-heartedly in transparency that they publish all of their wages. In publishing their lowest paid wages, they are creating a sense of accountability with their employees and customers to not only work for good but to also maintain a high level of trust.

“We are hopeful, and we believe in progress over perfection. We’re not perfect, but we want to be perfectly transparent.” Along with this fight for progress, they follow a model of empowering and equipping women. In training their employees in a trade, they not only are coming alongside them to help serve and love them, but they are equipping them in a sustainable manner. This in turn is what helps these women break out of the cycle of generational poverty. Every purchase we make has an impact far beyond a super cute addition to our closet (which it totally is) but also contributes to these incredibly talented women’s fair wages.

The integrity of this brand that is leading the way in the fashion industry is inspiring and one that we are honored to stand behind. Come check out these quality and stylish products that we’re so excited to partner with!
